SUMMARY

This article explains important improvements that were made in Audium Studio 5.1.3, and Audium Call Services 3.6.4.

SYMPTOMS

User is currently using a previous version of Audium software, and is wondering if they should upgrade.

RESOLUTION

As of Audium Studio 5.1.3 and Call Services 3.6.4 we have introduced significant licensing updates to meet the needs of our users. We recommend that you upgrade your current installation to take advantage of these improvements. You can download the latest version of Audium Call Services as well as find instructions for how to upgrade Audium Studio via its auto-update mechanism in the following Audium Support Center forum:

One key piece of feedback we received from our users is that system IDs often change when working on a laptop, requiring repeated reactivations. Under our previous system, each reactivation under a new system ID consumed a license seat or additional sessions.

However, our new system includes improved system ID flexibility, to help minimize or eliminate the need to continually reactivate Audium software on laptops. For example, some laptops automatically deactivate built-in network cards when undocked or unplugged, to save power. Our new system is able to handle the vast majority of these situations by ensuring that your machine is still recognizable as a match to your license.

Rather than checking various system properties which are subject to change and difficult to predict, our new system ID mechanism tracks your system's MAC addresses. However, you do not need to specify which MAC addresses to track, this will be handled automatically. In order to ensure maximum system ID flexibility, you may wish to activate your software for the first time when all of your MAC addresses are available (e.g. plug in your laptop, and enable your wireless and built-in network adapters if they are disabled).

The first time you start your Audium software after upgrading to one of these new versions your system ID will change and you will be asked to reactivate. If moving from Studio 5.1.x to 5.1.3 or higher from the same physical machine and you use automatic activation, this reactivation will not consume additional license seats. For manual activation, other Studio version upgrades (e.g. from 5.0 to 5.1.3), and for all Call Services upgrades, please first contact your Account Representative to have your installation key prepared for reactivation. Then, please reactivate to take advantage of your new software version, and improved licensing functionality.

If you have any questions or feedback about these system ID improvements, please feel free to contact us via the Audium Support Center forums (http://www.audiumcorp.com/CustomerCare). We have made these changes as a direct result of user feedback; we highly value your opinion as to how we can continue to evolve our software to best meet your needs.
