RESOLUTION

Activating a New Installation

Each time Audium Call Services is started without an active license it will log a message to the application server console that indicates that it needs to be activated.

The Audium Call Services Software Activation Console can be accessed by visiting the following URL in a web browser while Audium Call Services is running:

http://IP:PORT/Audium/Licensing

When the console appears, login with the username and password you specified during installation.  You will be presented with an introduction to how the Software Activation Console works, click 'Next' when you are done reading this.

The next screen allows you to choose either automatic or manual activation.  If your machine has Internet access, automatic activation is recommended.  Manual activation can be used in situations where the machine hosting Audium Call Services does not have Internet access.

If you choose automatic activation, you are asked on the next screen to specify how many concurrent sessions that this installation should support.  You can specify a number here up to the amount that your installation key supports (please refer to your installation key fulfillment email for information about how many total concurrent sessions your installation key allows).  Once you have entered the desired number of concurrent sessions, click 'Activate'.  Your software will be automatically activated.  Restart Audium Call Services when prompted to do so to complete the activation process.

If you choose manual activation, you are asked on the next screen to provide a license key.  A license key can be requested from Audium Customer Care (http://www.audiumcorp.com/CustomerCare).

The manual software activation page on Audium Customer Care will ask for your installation key, system ID, and the desired number of concurrent sessions that this installation should support.  Note that your installation key and system ID are displayed in the Software Activation Console.

Once the form is submitted, a license key will be produced that can be copied and pasted into the text field in the Software Activation Console.  One option would be to store this license key in a text file and transfer it via FTP or other means to the Audium Call Services machine, so that you can paste it into the required text field.  Once you have entered the license key into the Software Activation Console, click 'Activate'.  Your software will be activated.  Restart Audium Call Services when prompted to do so to complete the activation process.

Reactivating an Existing Installation

When your software license is updated, you should reactivate Audium Call Services so that it picks up the changes.  Perhaps the most common reason to reactivate your software is for when your license expiration date has been extended, reactivation will acquire the new date. Additionally, you might reactivate to gain support for a new gateway adapter or other feature that has been added to your license.

Reactivation is performed from the Software Activation Console, similar to the process described in the previous section.  Bring up the console, and login with your username and password.  On the bottom of the first page, you should see:

The current installation is activated with a valid license. The license will expire on Fri, 30-Jun-2006 EDT

To update the Audium Call Services installation with a new license, click on "Next".

where the date listed is the actual expiration date of your license.  If you do not see a message like this, then your software has most likely not been activated.  If you do see this message, click 'Next' to continue on with your reactivation.

Your installation key and system ID will be listed at the bottom of the next page.  On this page, you can choose either 'Automatic' or 'Manual' reactivation.  If you have an Internet connection from your Audium Call Services machine, choose automatic, otherwise choose manual.

From this point on, the steps to reactivate are exactly the same as those to activate.  Please refer to the previous section for details (click here to jump there).

NOTE: Reactivating an existing installation (i.e. when the system ID is the same as your initial activation) and specifying the same or fewer concurrent sessions as your initial activation does not subtract additional concurrent sessions from the total that your license allows.  For example, if you initially activate with 100 concurrent sessions, and reactivate again with 100 sessions, your license will only have 100 concurrent sessions subtracted from it (once, during the initial activation), not 200.  Additionally, if you later reactivate and specify 120 concurrent sessions, only the additional 20 concurrent sessions will be subtracted from your license.
