RESOLUTION

One major improvement offered by Audium Studio 5 is that it is built on top of Eclipse 3.1, whereas previous versions were built on top of Eclipse 2.1.  Because of this fundamental change, Audium Studio 5 has a new installer and cannot be installed via Audium Studio's "Software Updates" feature (which is used to install service releases).  The following instructions explain how to upgrade from an earlier version of Audium Studio to Audium Studio 5.  If you are upgrading from Audium 3.3, please refer to the Audium Knowledge Base article entitled "How to Import Audium 3.3 Applications into Audium Studio 5" (article 223) for important information.

First, export any existing Audium Studio projects so that they can later be imported into Audium Studio 5.  To avoid losing your Audium Studio projects when you upgrade, please do not skip this step.  To export a project (from Audium Studio 3.4.x):

  1. Right-click on the project name in the Navigator view.
  2. Click on "Export...".
  3. Select "File system".
  4. Click on "Next".
  5. Click on "Browse".
  6. Choose the folder you would like to export the project to.
  7. Click on "OK" to close the file navigator.
  8. Click on "Finish".

Repeat this procedure for each project, and be sure to export the projects to a folder outside of the current Audium Studio installation, so that they will be available to Audium Studio 5.

Once all of your projects have been exported, your older version of Audium Studio should be uninstalled:

  1. In Windows, click on "Start".
  2. Click on "Control Panel".
  3. Open "Add or Remove Programs".
  4. Select "Audium".
  5. Click on "Change/Remove".
  6. Click on "Uninstall Specific Features".
  7. Check the box next to "Studio" (you do not need to uninstall other Audium software you may have installed).
  8. Click on "Next" and continue the uninstall instructions.

After Audium Studio has been uninstalled, you can install Audium Studio 5.  To download Audium Studio 5, you need a username and password for Audium Support Center.  Registration is free, so please register if you do not yet have access; to register:

  1. Visit the Audium Support Center website.
  2. Click on "Register".
  3. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Provide the requested account information.
  5. Click on "Submit".

You will be notified via email once your account has been activated.  Once activated and logged in, you can download Audium Studio 5 from the Audium Downloads section.

Before installing Audium Studio 5, please contact your Audium Account Representative to receive an installation key.  During installation you will be prompted to provide this key.

Once the software is installed, there is a 7 day grace period during which you will be able to use Audium Studio 5 before it has been activated.  Please speak with your Audium Account Representative to activate your installation, allowing it to continue being used after the grace period.
