RESOLUTION

The Audium installer provides four different installation options: Full Installation, Call Services, Studio and Custom Installation. Full Installation and Studio are currently available for Microsoft Windows only.

Full Installation (Windows Only)

This section describes the process of making a full installation of Audium consisting of Audium Call Services and Audium Studio. Note that due to the fact that Audium Studio is available only for Windows, the full installation is currently unavailable for other operating systems.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure that all the requirements described in the section entitled System Requirements are met for both Studio and Call Services.

Installation

  • Step 1 Run the Audium installer by executing audium.exe.

  • Step 2 After agreeing to the license agreement, the installer asks for the type of the installation to choose. Select "Full Installation".

  • Step 3 You will be asked to provide the installation folder for Audium. The default location is C:\Program Files\Audium. The installation directory can be changed by manually editing the path or clicking on the Browse button to choose another location. This directory will be referred to in this guide as INSTALLATION_PATH.

  • Step 4 After choosing whether to create shortcuts to Audium Studio, select the application server on which to install Audium Call Services. If your application server is not listed, choose Apache Tomcat 4.1.24. If you are interested in installing Audium Studio only, please exit the installer, restart, and choose the Audium Studio only install option.

  • Step 5 The installer will ask for the location of the deployable web applications folder of your application server in order to install Call Services. The installer will try to obtain this path from the operating system or, failing that, set it to the default installation directory for the chosen application server. The installation directory can be changed by manually editing the path or clicking on the Browse button to choose another location. Note that if your application server was not listed in step 4, enter the path where web applications are deployed for the appropriate application server.

  • Step 6 The next screen will summarize the chosen options and installation path. Review your selection carefully before selecting "Install". The installer will then install Audium.

  • Step 7 After a successful installation, click "Next" and you will be asked to restart your computer.

  • Step 8 Select "Done" to complete the installation.

  • Step 9 Please refer to the Post Installation section for instructions on what to do next.

Call Services Only Installation

This section describes the process of installing only Audium Call Services.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure that all the requirements described in the section entitled System Requirements are met for Call Services.

  • The software should be installed by the user that is expected to run Call Services. For example, if Call Services is expected to run under the user "root", the installer must be run under "root" as well. This is especially important on Windows when the application server is installed as a service.

Installation

  • Step 1 Run the Audium installer appropriate for your operating system: Windows: audium.exe Linux: audium.bin Solaris: audium_solaris.bin

  • Step 2 After agreeing to the license agreement, the installer asks for the type of the installation to choose. Select "Call Services".

  • Step 3 You will be asked to provide the installation folder for Audium (in which Call Services will be installed). The default location is C:\Program Files\Audium for Windows and /usr/local/Audium for Linux/Solaris. The installation directory can be changed by manually editing the path or clicking on the Browse button to choose another location. This directory will be referred to in this guide as INSTALLATION_PATH.

  • Step 4 Select the application server on which to install Audium Call Services.

The installer will then install Call Services.

  • Step 7 After a successful installation, click "Next". Call Services requires the use of an environment variable that is created by the installer. On Windows, in order for this environment variable to take effect, the machine must be rebooted so the installer will ask the user whether to restart the machine. On Linux / Solaris, it is recommended to log off then log back on again to allow the environment variable to take effect.

  • Step 8 Select "Done" to complete the installation.

  • Step 9 Please refer to the Post Installation section for instructions on what to do next.

Studio Only Installation (Windows Only)

This section describes the process of installing only Audium Studio.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for Audium Studio other than being installed on Windows.

Installation

  • Step 1 Launch the Audium installer with the filename audium.exe.

  • Step 2 After agreeing to the license agreement, the installer asks for the type of the installation to choose. Select "Studio".

  • Step 3 You will be asked to provide the installation folder for Audium (in which Studio will be installed). The default location is C:\Program Files\Audium. The installation directory can be changed by manually editing the path or clicking on the Browse button to choose another location. This directory will be referred to in this guide as INSTALLATION_PATH.

  • Step 4 After choosing whether to create shortcuts to Audium Studio, the next screen will summarize the chosen options and installation path. Review your selection carefully before selecting "Install". The installer will then install Studio.

  • Step 5 Select "Done" to complete the installation.

  • Step 6 Please refer to the Post Installation section for instructions on what to do next.

Custom Installation

The custom installation option allows the user to selectively choose which components to install; Audium Studio, Audium Call Services, and Audium Gateway Adapters. This option is suggested only for advanced users.

The installation instructions listed in the previous sections will apply for the components chosen to install here. Using the full installation or Call Services only installations, the Gateway Adapters are automatically installed.

Notes:

  • If no Gateway Adapters are installed, no application will be able to run on Audium Call Services. At least one Gateway Adapter must be installed by this installer or a separate installer in order to use Call Services.

  • The Linux and Solaris installers do not have the option to install Audium Studio in the custom install option.

  • Please refer to the Post Installation section for instructions on what to do following the custom installation.
